Yes, about 2 weeks ago I (unintentionally) tried to set my house on fire. I did in fact set part of my stove on fire.
Fun times.
I was in the midst of cooking something on the back burner and preparing something else on the counter (like 2 feet away) but my back was turned. I have an electric stove and sometimes if there’s something on the burner it will smoke a little. I had just said “Nobody worry-nothing’s on fire-just something on the eye of the stove!” I turned to look again and there were flames shooting up around the pot.
So of course I did what came naturally.
I forgot everything I knew to do and hollered to my husband.
“Ummmm….fire. The stove is on fire! Help? What do I do?”
“Salt!”
Oh yeah.
So-I grab the dish of salt I keep on the stove and poured it all over, putting the fire out. No damage to the stove or the pot I was using-and dinner was actually still edible.
Last night hubby and I hooked up my new washing machine because I finally killed the other one the old one died . We decide to run a small test load just to make sure everything was OK.
Before long I look and there’s water in my little laundry nook.
And my kitchen.
And my pantry.
Turns out we didn’t hook up the drain pipe correctly.
Yeah.
I think we need a vacation. What could go wrong?

Exactly. Oh dear. Thank God for the ShopVac.
And the hubby.
I’m thinking that you’re in the clear now. That was ENOUGH!

I sure hope so!
Oh my goodness, that is a lot of things to go wrong in a short period of time. I would have been in tears and begging for a vacation. Or at least dinner out. With dessert.

I had to laugh…or I would have cried. Thank you so much for coming by-sorry it took so long to reply but I haven’t been around a whole awful lot!!
Please forgive my laughter because that is something that would happen to us.
We were emptying our waterbed (I know, don’t judge) to prepare for the delivery of our new mattress and we couldn’t get all the water out because of this foamy stuff in the bottom that makes the mattress waveless. So, once it was “almost” empty, we decided we could lift it out of the bed (when I say “we” I mean the hubster, because I am disabled and have NO strength in my arms, legs or back) and pour the rest of the water over the balcony off the bedroom. I made sure I told hubby that he was taking the end with the hole in it so I didn’t get blamed when it spilled… he said we wouldn’t spill it – uh huh! Guess what? All over the carpet!! He got to use the Bissell to clean it up 3 times and it was still wet for 2 days. You are right – FUN TIMES.
Can I go on vacation with you?????

Oh Lorie–I’m laughing right with you now!! You know-I always wanted a waterbed-but the thought of the mess dissuaded me. Now I’m sure I don’t want one!
You know-we used to have a “Big Green” and there hasn’t been another since that could actually suck up the water as well as that did. If it ever happens again-ShopVac. We have one (and used it to suck up the majority of the water)-LOVE IT!!! Though I doubt you’ll be moving any waterbeds any time soon….:-D
Sorry it took me so long to reply-haven’t been around much!
So wish we still had a Shop-Vac. When we moved from Connecticut to Florida, we knew we weren’t going to have the room for it, so we gave it to Bill’s son.
Oh, well… now that the bed is gone, no more accidents like that again.
I love our new mattress, I’ve actually been able to sleep 6 hours at a time (as apposed to 4 like usual), but hubby hates it ~ I tell him that he will get used to it.

Oh my goodness! Sounds like you have my luck with appliances!!! Ha ha! I have set a stove on fire, killed a washing machine, and I am currently working a slow death on the dish washer. Here is the fun part – all in my parents’ home! Whenever I visit they are afraid to let me touch their appliances.
I think you definitely deserve a vacation.

See normally I don’t try to kill my appliances (or anyone else’s). I guess I’m making exceptions these days. Sounds like our appliances need to get together and talk about what bad owners we are lol.
oh my! Water all over the floor? I know exactly the feeling…the worst is having to clean it all up
I did the same in my apartment. It was a catastrophe. Good luck, Can’t wait to read about your vacation!

At least you seem to be keeping some balance with fire and water.
