Mothers are supposed to protect their babies. To keep them safe from harm, snuggle them when they need comforting, make pb&j sandwiches…not suffocate them. I can’t ignore this any longer. The news has been inundated with updates on the case as things played out and with each report I became more sad AND angry.
Shaquan Duley is a woman from nearby Orangeburg who originally told police that she had an accident. Her Dodge Intrepid had gone into the Edisto River with her babies in it…and she was unable to rescue them. Police seemed to doubt her story from the beginning:
- her clothes weren’t weren’t wet
- she appeared “relatively calm”
- no skidmarks or other evidence showing she tried to stop the car
The highway patrol brought in Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office. This woman later confessed to placing her own hands over the mouths of her two younger children, Ja’van (18 months) and Devean (2 years). I read later that the 2 year old showed bruising and signs of a struggle. This beast placed her hands over the mouths of her babies and watched the life slip right out of them. Not only did she do this, she had to struggle with the 2 year old. She fought him to end his life!
Apparently it wasn’t enough for this monster to suffocate her boys. She then strapped these two angels into their carseats and drove to a boat ramp on the North Edisto River, put her car in neutral, and let them sink to the depths below. She walked over a mile (despite houses being visible from where she discarded the bodies of her children) on a “busy” road before flagging someone down to call for “help”.
The sheriff has been quoted as saying “The responsibility of being a mom was a bit much for her.” This unemployed witch who apparently couldn’t keep her legs closed or figure out how to get birth control or put a condom on her partner? If you know you can’t handle children and you’re too stupid to go down to the clinic to take preventative measures STOP HAVING SEX!!!
This woman apparently fled the home of her mother (whom she lived with) after an argument because her mother thought she should/could be doing a better job with her children. She left her 5 year old girl with her mother. She drove 3.10 miles (it’s not hard to look up an address & mapquest directions) to a motel, rang a bell, paid with a $100 bill for service, and KILLED HER CHILDREN! She then strapped the bodies of her dead children into their carseats and drove over 14 miles to a boat ramp to dispose of the bodies! She apparently hasn’t shown any remorse either. She is a freaking MONSTER!

I am so angered by this…I hope she suffers. I hope that the jury “throws the book at her”. I hope she spends the rest of her miserable life thinking and dreaming about her children. I hope she wakes up to the sounds of her own screams.
I know these kids are in a better place now, and I pray that they are happier than they have ever been. I hope they were welcomed into heaven with open arms. They didn’t ask to be born and it isn’t their fault. Sleep sweet little ones. Sleep sweet.

I totally agree. This makes me sick. They should sit her in a hot car with a bag over her head to suffocate. She deserves it.

I agree! It’s horrible. She should be made to endure the same fate as her children. I hope it haunts her for the rest of her days. There is a special place in Hell for people who hurt children.

I get sick thinking about it myself… the idea of a 2 yr old having to fight for their life just doesnt sound like anything that is even POSSIBLE!!!! Should never happen…
The one thing, even if she’s not remorseful now, I guarantee it, she will have to live with this the rest of her life… & it WILL get to her…. its cant NOT get to her… that is going to be one hard life to live…what she deserves

Her actions make me absolutely sick to my stomach. I have to wonder if someone capable of doing this to her own children is even able to feel remorse. I hope there is a special level of hell reserved for mothers who kill their children.

Death is too good for her. She deserves to go to sleep and wake up to her nightmare for punishment. As a mother I can’t even begin to imagine what would make someone do this. I’ve dealt with depression and never did the thought cross my mind to do something like this to my son. I can’t even imagine! I hurt when he hurts, I would never hurt him. People like this are just animals…glad she is getting caged up. Psycho!

What I wonder is how she came to the conclusion of letting the 5 year old live. No matter what she did, that 5 year old is going to live the consequences too.
My friend Mark is a pediatric resident and He was called to the ER one night. A 6 week old baby came in unresponsive. They began CPR and started taking x-rays to see what was wrong. The poor baby had OLD breaks (she was SO little) and so many bruises, old, midway and new. Mark told Meg about the story, Meg asked if the baby was going to be alright. He said “I hope she’s dead tomorrow” Meg was appalled because Mark would never say something like that and he replied “She’s SEVERELY handicapped, and has no quality of life” thankfully (I suppose…) the baby died that night.
This kind of stuff makes me want to squeeze my children.
