When you’re on twitter are you mindful of the same things you are in other areas of the internet? Do you tell it all or do you hold a few things back?
I’ve seen people on twitter post things that (many times) they wouldn’t normally post to their blogs. Pictures of their nude toddlers and things that show their exact location as it happens; I know that not everyone is as paranoid as I am about some things but where do you draw the line? The other thing that concerns me is I’ve heard of at least one story where someone’s family picture wound up on a storefront-sized picture. Many times people are posting pictures and the like to twitter but they aren’t watermarking them and taking other precautionary measures. Watermarking is the best way I know to prove that a picture is yours. It doesn’t however protect your pictures from perverts who download your pictures.
As I said, I know that not everyone is as paranoid as I am about what they will or will not show on the internet, but it’s good to be mindful of it anyway. What are your thoughts? Where do you draw the line?

I’m very careful about what I post on Twitter. On my blog too. Pictures on my blog are watermarked, and for Flickr and Twitter I don’t upload photos of myself or the kids, just scenery.
I’m a military spouse so I am mindful of these things. I’m not as paranoid as some, and I don’t hide things as well as some say we should. But I am careful what I write and post.

Great topic, Kristen. I read recently about someone who was robbed b/c they posted they were going to a concert on their FB and one of their “friends” came and cleaned them out! That really made me think twice and it’s changed what I post. I rarely post family photos on my blog and never on Twitter. I generally use stock photography.

I never post any family photos on twitter or my blog. It just freaks me out. As does that location feature on twitter. Besides, no one really wants to know where I am!

I’m right there with you! I love to show off my grandkids feet and hands, but that’s about it. I think you’re very wise to be cautious and careful on the internet!!!
Have a blessed and safe week!

good thing I haven’t gotten too into twitter yet. I could see myself posting where I was and it never occured to me how that could get used against me. Need to re consider what I post on fb too…

I feel the same way you do. I don’t use my name, ever place my location and certainly don’t put identifiable pictures of my son on my blog/twitter.
I love all of the connections I have made online but try to be careful as well. This is a really good topic!

Thanks B!! Yes, safety is my #1 concern. If my blog suffers because of it-oh well. I don’t want my family’s safety in jeopardy.
