We’ve all had it happen. Maybe you’re cooking dinner and oil spatters on your clothes…or you’re out somewhere and someone dumps a tray of greasy fries onto your lap. What to do…what to do?
Today I want to tell you a few tips and tricks about how to get oil out of your clothing (and maybe a few other fabrics). Always test products for colorfastness, etc.
*One of my favorites and an old standby is Dawn dish detergent. Put a little on the grease stain/spot and rub it in. This usually brings it right out!
*My new favorite laundry item is a product called SOILOVE. It apparently is only sold in Arizona, California, and a few online retailers. I have also been told you can order it directly from the company by calling 1-800-482-6555 (the company doesn’t have a website). This stuff will bring out Blood, Grass, Grease…and just about anything else you can put it up against. It has even gotten some stains out of my kiddos’ clothes that were dried in!!! I’ve seen it for as low as 99 cents if you buy it in bulk…but most online retailers are at least 3 times that (plus shipping). I plan to call the company directly the next time I need it and I will update here with what I’m told.
* Some other good things to try that will sometimes work for soaking oil out of things like carpet or clothing are baking soda, cornstarch, and baby powder. Sprinkle them on, let sit until they are dry. Brush away the crusty stuff and hit it with your carpet shampooer/washing machine, etc.

Soilove is amazing! I’ve been using it for as long as I can remember and it really works.

Dish detergents never fail to get rid of oil from clothes. If it works for your dishes, it will definitely work for clothes. Another one to try when it comes to removing grease and oil stains is white vinegar. This definitely works for coffee oil stains and even body oil and sweat. Just mix white vinegar with water and soak your clothes overnight. You should be able to see the difference right away.
